THE ABORIGINAL SPORT CIRCLE ANNOUNCES BRITISH COLUMBIA AS THE HOST OF THE 2025 NATIONAL ABORIGINAL HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Aboriginal Sport Circle (ASC) is pleased to announce that the host of the 22nd National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC) will be Kamloops, British Columbia. The Championships will be held May 4 to 10, 2025 at the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre in Kamloops.

"We are honoured to work with our partners to make the 22nd annual Championships a fantastic experience for these young Indigenous athletes," says Rob Newman, ASC President. The ASC also congratulates the winning teams of this year's 21st annual NAHC held on May 5 to 11, 2024.

The Championships for 2025 will be hosted by Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and the City of Kamloops with the support of the Kamloops Sports Council, with support from Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and the City of Kamloops.

"We are thrilled to support the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships," says Tkwenem7íple7 Justin Gottfriedson, acting Kúkpi7 for Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc. "This event continues to showcase the incredible athletic abilities of Indigenous youth while promoting cultural unity and community pride. We look forward to seeing their talent and passion on display at this prestigious tournament."

Duncan Olthuis, Executive Director of the Kamloops Sports Council, says his organization is ecstatic to host such a prestigious event. "Along with our partners Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and the City of Kamloops, we can't wait to welcome the athletes to Kamloops in 2025."

The 2025 NAHC will feature participants from First Nation, Inuit, and Metis communities of all provinces and territories. The Championships offer an opportunity to showcase the incredible talent of elite U18 Indigenous male and female athletes from across the country, while also encouraging cultural unity and pride.
