The ASC is proud to announce the first-ever National Indigenous Sports Gala, set to take place November 23rd, 2024. This inaugural event will take place on the traditional and unceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Gala, titled "Celebrating Indigenous Sporting Excellence", stands as a testament to the rich heritage and remarkable achievements of Indigenous athletes, coaches, and leaders across Canada. It aims to empower Indigenous communities by recognizing and validating their tremendous accomplishments in and profound contributions to sport, recreation, physical activity and traditional practices.
During this memorable evening, attendees will have the opportunity to witness the unveiling of the distinguished ASC Tom Longboat and National Indigenous Coaching Award recipients. These awards honour individuals for their outstanding dedication and impact within Indigenous sports, recreation, physical activity, and traditional practices.
