THE ASC IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF THE 2024 NATIONAL INDIGENOUS COACHING AWARDS

June 25, 2024

The National Indigenous Coaching Awards, delivered annually, were developed to recognize the outstanding commitment and contributions of Indigenous coaches to sport in Canada.

As a program of the Aboriginal Sport Circle, the National Indigenous Coaching Awards provide a forum for acknowledging the participation and profile of Indigenous coaches in Canada, who have a tremendous impact on sport development from community participation to elite level competition.

"The Aboriginal Sport Circle (ASC) is honored to present this prestigious award celebrating the remarkable contributions of Indigenous coaches. These nominated coaches exemplify excellence, both in their respective sports and as builders of their communities. Their dedication and influence extend far beyond the game: these coaches have a profound impact on the lives of Indigenous children, youth, and athletes across the nation. They deserve the highest recognition for the inspiration and positive change they bring to their communities and the future of Indigenous sports."

Rob Newman, ASC President

"People enter the coaching profession through various paths, but they all share one thing: passion. The National Indigenous Coaching Awards celebrates this passion, honoring the achievements of nominees and winners on the field, in their communities and - most important - in the lives of those they coach. I am deeply grateful to be part of the Aboriginal Sport Circle (ASC) and to contribute to the national recognition these deserving Indigenous coaches receive."

Vanessa McGregor, Interim Executive Director, ASC

For the 2024 program year, all completed nomination packages should be submitted directly to the Aboriginal Sport Circle. A dedicated selection committee will meticulously review each nomination, evaluating the outstanding contributions and achievements of the candidates. After careful deliberation, the committee will select two national recipients to honor for their exceptional impact. In November 2024, these distinguished individuals will receive their awards at a recognition event celebrating their invaluable contributions to Indigenous sports and communities. Further details about this recognition event are forthcoming.
